The two generations of chocolatiers, Tony Walter Sr. and Tony Walter Jr., take pride in being a small business and are passionate about chocolate. The Walters are the most knowledgeable and experienced retail chocolate manufacturers still working in the Philadelphia candy industry, which has a rich history.
Maureen Walter
Bringing a Fresh Perspective
Tony Jr's Wife, Maureen Walter, brings a contemporary edge to Lore’s Chocolates with her background in European china, art glass, and the bridal industry.
She specializes in custom chocolate orders and making your dreams a reality.
A Growing Company
For over 30 years, Lore's Chocolates were manufactured on-site at the historic 7th Street retail location.
As the company grew and required more production space, the Walters purchased the original Goldenberg's Peanut Chew Factory location just 5 miles north of the store, still in Philadelphia. You might say it's a factory with good chocolate karma!
This expansion marked a significant milestone in Lore's journey, showcasing their adaptability and commitment to meeting the increasing demand for their chocolates.

1940 - 2024
Midge Walter
After 25 years in the chocolate business, Midge Walter retired but continued to participate in her family’s love of the industry until her passing in early 2024.
Midge was a cornerstone at Lore's, touching countless lives in the process of building our family business. She will always be remembered for her laughter, wisdom, and friendship.
